A 32 year old fraudster, Lanre Ologunagba, has been apprehended by police in Ondo State for defrauding his victims a sum of one million Naira.


Ologunagba, who was paraded in front of the media on Thursday in Akure, the Ondo State capital, when it was learned that he had been posing as an herbalist to cheat innocent people in the State.

Two Die, One Goes Blind After Eating ‘Forbidden’ Fish In Ebonyi State

Two persons reportedly lost their lives today in Ezillo community, Ishielu local government area of Ebonyi State after eating a fresh fish alleged to be forbidden in the area.


Another victim was said to have become blind also after eating the said fish.

The victims (names withheld) are labourers who were hired by one Mr. Alieze for a construction work.

An eye witness who gave his name as Mrs. Odoh Onyinyechi told our correspondent that the victims who decided to go on break while working at the site, went to the near-by stream where they harvested the said fish. The specie of the fish is forbidden by the community.

“A man from our community went to the town and brought people to work for him. The people later went to the stream to fetch water and came back with some fishes.

EFCC Arrests Sacked NIMASA Boss Over Alleged Multibillion Naira Fraud

he Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested the immediate past Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency [NIMASA], Patrick Ziakede Akpobolokemi, two weeks after he was fired from his post.


A source in NIMASA told PREMIUM TIMES Mr. Akpobolokemi was arrested in Lagos Thursday morning and was detained at the Lagos office of the EFCC in the Ikoyi area of the city.

Buhari Arrives Cameroon To Discuss Boko Haram Fight With Pres. Paul Biya

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari arrived in neighbouring Cameroon on Wednesday for talks on how to combat the escalating regional threat from Boko Haram Islamists. Security was tight for the 24-hour visit, after a surge of Boko Haram violence in Cameroon including an unprecedented series of five suicide bombings in the far north.


Presidential guard soldiers were posted on rooftops of houses and along the route from the airport to the presidential palace in Yaounde, while vehicles armed with machine-guns patrolled the streets and access to the hotel where Buhari will stay was blocked.

Buhari Appoints Head of Amnesty Programme For Ex militants

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Brigadier-General Paul.T. Boroh (rtd.) as the Coordinator of the Amnesty Programme for former Niger Delta militants.


Brig. Boroh, whose appointment takes immediate effect, is to take over the responsibilities of Kingsley Kuku, the former Special Adviser to President Jonathan on Niger Delta who also doubled as Coordinator of the Amnesty Programme.

The appointment of a new Coordinator for the Amnesty Programme is expected to lead to the speedy resolution of recent hitches in its implementation such as the non-payment of outstanding allowances to ex-militants.

Tanker Loaded With 33,000 Liters Of Fuel Falls At Lagos Airport

An incident capable of setting the Murtala International Muhammed Airport, Lagos on fire was today averted, as a 33,000 liter capacity tanker carrying aviation fuel lost control, fell and spilled its contents around the toll gate plaza located at the international wing of the airport.




Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Lagos State Fire Service, the Nigerian Police and other emergency response agencies responded speedily to douse the situation. The tanker with registration number: AAA 991 XQ, was coming from Ikeja axis and driving towards the international airport, lost control in the process of negotiating the sharp bend around the airport.

Apart from the tanker driver, who was injured and taken to the nearest hospital, ther was no other casualty was report. The accident however caused a gridlock for commuters around the axis. Bobbi Kristina Brown has died aged 22 – six months after she was found unconscious in a bathtub.The aspiring singer was rushed to hospital and placed in a medically-induced coma on January 31 after she was discovered face-down in the water-filled tub at her townhouse in Roswell, Georgia.


 She passed away, surrounded by her family, at the hospice on Sunday – just 3 years after her famous mother, singer Whitney Houston, died aged 48 in a bathtub at a hotel in Beverly Hills.

Justice Gabriel Kolawole in a ruling on Monday refused an ex-parte application filed by Senator Prince Gilbert Emeka Nnaji, with which he sought to among others, restrain the police from proceeding with the investigation and making public the report of the inquiry.

President Says Ministers Won't Award Contracts Again

As part of the ongoing reform of several strata of the Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari has disclosed that ministers won’t be having the luxury of awarding contracts or getting corrupt in how contracts are awarded.

Cameroon Police Arrest Two White Individuals Suspected Of Plotting Terror Attacks

Armed Cameroon police officers (Rapid response unit Esir) arrested two men on Saturday, suspected of plotting a terrorist attack in Yaounde, ‘Briqueterie’ neighborhood. The two men are reported to be Caucasian type. Based on early reports, they were in possession of bags full of explosives.

The Briqueterie neighborhood is known for being the area of Yaounde with the largest Muslim population. At this point it is unclear who the suspected terrorists were targeting.

Boko Haram Kills 25 In Adamawa

A bloody and terrifying raid by Boko Haram on Friday left at least 25 people dead in three villages in eastern Nigeria's Adamawa state, according to residents and a local government official. Adamawa state borders Borno state, Boko Haram's birth place and main stronghold.


Storming in on motorcycles, the gunmen attacked the neighboring villages of Kopa, Maikadire and Yaffa around 9 a.m. local time, shooting and killing residents, according to witnesses and local government chairman Maina Ularamu.

Nigeria's Forex Reserves Rise 5.6 Pct Month-on-month By July 22 - REUTERS

Nigeria's foreign exchange reserves rose $30.69 billion by July 22, up 5.6 percent from $29.03 billion a month earlier, latest data from the central bank.


However, the forex reserves of Africa's top crude exporter were down20.9 percent from $$38.8 billion a year ago.

The growth in reserves for the month was attributed to efforts of the present government to plug leakage and demand management by the central bank.

The central bank restricted access to foreign exchange by last month and introduced tight control of the foreign exchange market to curb speculation and conserves forex reserves
