Man Stabs Landlord To Death In Lagos (pictured)

Some hoodlums started a street fight on Olorogun Street, Odo Eran, in the Itire area of Lagos State on Tuesday, during which a 21-year-old stabbed a landlord, identified as Alawu Lateef, to death.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Lateef, who was a father of three, had intervened in the fight, and asked the hoodlums to leave the area, when one of them, identified as Lati Elepo , stabbed the landlord.

Defence Headquarters Detains Generals And Recalls Others Over Missing Funds

In a bid to recover stolen defence cash running into trillions of Naira, the Defence Headquarters might have started recalling no fewer than 20 Generals said to have been involved in the purchase of arms and ammunition for the country.

Competent military sources told Vanguard last night that the suspected top military officers were being detained at a military facility in Abuja and would soon be made to face the music for their roles in fleecing the nation.

Memo by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) about possible Boko Haram attacks has unsettled residents in Abuja.

Copies of the letter with reference number FCTA/SSD/S.781/VOL 1 and entitled “Forwarding of Intelligence” circulated in Abuja last night.

Kogi Governorship Crisis: Audu’s Camp Rejects Son

The tussle over the replacement for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Kogi State, the late Prince Abubakar Audu, got messier yesterday as his camp rebuffed calls for his son, Mohammed Audu, or the first runner-up in the party’s governorship primaries, Yahaya Bello, to be given the ticket. Audu died on November 22, 2015, a day after the governorship election in the state, of undisclosed causes.

Stock Fraud Suspect Dies In EFCC Custody

A suspect under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, is dead. Arowofela Olufemi, who was in the custody of the EFCC, at about 5.30 am today, November 28, 2015 complained of chest pain and was rushed to the nearby Military Hospital but gave up the ghost before doctors could attend to him.

The cause of the sudden death is yet to be ascertained even as the corpse of the deceased has been deposited at the mortuary of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital. The family of the deceased has already been notified of the incident while the matter had been reported at the Onikan Division of the Nigeria Police.

Cultists Attack Hotel In Akesan Lagos, One Killed

A gun battle occurred last night between yet to be identified rival cult groups and at the end one person was shot dead in a popular hotel in Lagos State, western Nigeria.

The incident which happened at about 10 pm at a popular hotel located in Akesan area also left several other people injured.

The police from Igando division have recovered the corpse of the unidentified victim and deposited in the mortuary for autopsy report.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Friday said it has arrested a Brazil-based freelance journalist (names withheld) and a patent medicine dealer over alleged drug trafficking.

This is contained in a statement by the agency’s spokesman, Mr Mitchel Ofoyeju in Lagos.

EFCC Arrests ‘pastor’ For N200m Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested one Jonathan Ibinabo Alatoru, a self-acclaimed pastor and Chief Executive Officer, CEO, Chemtronics Nigeria Limited, for conspiracy, forgery and obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N200 million.

The suspect, who had earlier jumped the administrative bail granted him by the Commission, was arrested by operatives of EFCC in a sting operation on Thursday, November 26, 2015, in Abuja.

Nigeria's U-23 coach,Samson Siasia's mother who was kidnapped over two weeks ago has been rescued.

There are no details yet on if ransom was paid but according to sports radio,Brilla FM, the police confirmed she was rescued and Samson told the station,"Thank God! she's back home"

Just yesterday, he lamented that search for his 72 year old mother by the Nigerian police was taking too long and hoped his mother has not been killed by her abductors.He also said her kidnap was distracting him from his coaching duties.

Lagos State Safety Commission Shuts Shoprite Over Breach Of Safety Law

The Lagos State Safety Commission has shut the multi-billion multi-national shopping outlet, Shoprite located at the Ikeja Shopping Mall, Ikeja, Lagos, for allegedly breaching safety law.

Officials of the commission were said to have stormed Shoprite on Friday afternoon and drove everyone out and sealed off the massive premises, placing a seal order at the entrance.

SAD: 21 Years Old Man Rapes 4 Year Old Girl

The Police at Amukoko Divisional headquarters, Lagos, have arrested one Emmanuel Umanah, 21, for allegedly raping a four-old-girl (names withheld).

The suspect allegedly committed the crime in his one-room apartment on Opeoluwa Street, Mosafejo-Amukoko area of Ajegunle.

EFCC Arrests Amnesty Office Consultants And Contractors Over Billion Naira Scam

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) today arrested eight consultants and contractors of the Presidential Amnesty Programme.

 A source at the Commission gave the names of the suspects as Kanmi Adediran, Tumo Yetunde. Collins Omokhojie, Oluboye Adedokun, Ugala Jaachinma, Olukoya Olusegun Godwin, Oyinmi-ebi Bribena and Olukayode Raimi.

Man To Spend 13 Years In Prison For The Murder Of A Nigerian In London

Tuesday, Nov. 24, Evan Edwards, 20 (right), was jailed for 13 years at the Old Bailey after admitting to the manslaughter of 22-year-old Babafemi Junaid (Left), Metropolitan Police UK states.

Babatunde was stabbed on February 7, 2014 and later died in hospital. A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as a single stab wound to the heart. Babafemi became the inadvertent focus of an attack by a group after a disturbance on a 155 bus spilled out onto the street.

Senate Files For Suspension Of TSA After N25Bn Was Paid To Collection Agency In A Day

he Senate on Wednesday urged the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Ministry of Finance to suspend lodgments into Treasury Single Account (TSA) to allow investigation of alleged fraud in the system.

The upper chamber had in a motion moved by Sen. Dino Melaye (APC Kogi West) raised alarm over alleged payment of N25 billion to one e-collection firm, REMITA, in one day as one per cent of monies transferred.

The ongoing scarcity of Premium Motor Spirit also known as petrol is biting harder in the country as users are forced to pay far above the recommended price of N87 per litre in most of the filling stations that sell the product, SUNDAY PUNCH has found out.

Saraki's Lawyers Vow To Report CCT Chairman To NJC

The legal team of the Senate president, Dr Bukola Saraki, has vowed to send a protest letter to the National Judicial Council (NJC) over the alleged biased conduct of the chair of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Mr. Danladi Umar, in the trial of their client who is facing charges of false assets declaration in Abuja.

Yesterday, three Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs), Mr. Ahmed Raji, Alhaji Mahmoud Magagi and Saka Abimbola Isah, who led the legal team of the Senate president, all staged a walkout on the conduct tribunal chairman to protest alleged bias in the trial.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has ended its highly controversial offshore processing arrangement (OPA) in favour of direct sale-direct purchase (DSDP).

The OPA deals, which involved middlemen in the crude-oil-exchange-for-product matrix, had been widely criticised as opaque, dubious and corrupt by industry experts.

EFCC Arraigns Suswam Over N3.1bn Fraud Today

After several days of extended interrogations, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission will today arraign the former Benue State Governor, Mr. Gabriel Suswam, for money laundering and embezzlement.

The arraignment of Suswam, who ruled Benue State from 2007 to 2015, follows the filing of a nine-count charge largely bordering on money laundering to the tune of N3.1 billion against him at the Federal High Court Abuja on October 2.

Customs Mandates Serving Officers To Declare Their Assets

Accordingly, all officers from the first bar were asked to collect their asset declaration forms from their zonal offices with a view to making their acquisitions known to the top hierarchy of the NCS.

I Have Never Collected Bribe From Anyone – Orubebe

Former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Peter Orubebe, has denied charges against him before the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) sitting in Abuja. Reacting to the allegations, Orubebe said he will address the media tomorrow.

He said he did not demand and collect bribe of N70 million from a contractor handling a skill acquisition project for the ministry when he was minister and does own the plots of lands in Asokoro and Kyame, as alleged.
