How Four Friends Raped A 14-year-Old Girl

Four friends, Femi Olatunji, 17; Oyekanmi Rasheed, 18; Oladele Habib, 18 and John Alade, 16, are currently chilling at the police net in Lagos, for allegedly raping 14-year-old Habibat Adeolu (not real names).

Speaking to Saturday PUNCH when the men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Lagos State Command paraded some suspected criminals recently, Habibat said the friends threatened to kill her if she told anybody about the incident.

Police Arrest Kidnapper’s Wife To Negotiate Victim’s Release

Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command have arrested the wife of a suspected kidnapper, Mrs. Mercy Okachi, over the abduction of a youth leader in the state.

Okachi was arrested at her residence in Ubima, Ikwerre Local Government Area after a cash sum of N10 million being the ransom paid was traced to the house of her fleeing husband, Kendiri Okachi.
Surprisingly, Mrs. Okachi’s arrest was used to negotiate the release of the kidnap victim (name withheld for security reason).

Explosion Hits Agip Pipeline In Bayelsa

Explosion has again rocked a major pipeline in the Niger Delta region, a few days after an attack on oil and gas pipelines in the Gbaramatu kingdom Delta state, dealt a deadly blow on the economy.

This time the attack occurred on a pipeline owned by the Nigeria Agip Oil Company (NAOC) in Brass Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.

Ex-militants Threaten To Blow Up Hijacked Vessel, Expatriates On-board Over Biafra

A group of ex-militants in support of the agitation by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has claimed responsibility for the hijack of a ship on Friday along the Bakassi Pennisula Nigeria coastal line.

The group, which recently gave the Federal Government a 31-day ultimatum to release Nnamdi Kanu, the IPOB leader and Director of Radio Biafra, said the concerned Niger Delta agitators were abreast with the incarceration of Kanu.

Nigerian Army Battles Insurgents In Maiduguri, Many Killed

Several people have been reportedly killed as the military engaged militants suspected to be members of Boko Haram sect in a fierce gun battle that reportedly lasted for hours on Saturday.

The insurgents were said to have attacked Dalori and Walori villages, on outskirts of Maiduguri, at around some minutes past 7pm on Saturday night.

Lecturer Dr Danfulani Arrested For Criticizing Buhari On Facebook Denied Bail

Chief magistrate Court 1, Kaduna, has denied Dr John Danfulani bail after being detained by the police for over 24 hours.

Danfulani, a lecturer with the Kaduna State University, KASU, is being held for alleged inciting and hateful statements in the social media against the people of northern Nigeria, thereby, capable of causing breakdown of law and order in northern Nigeria and other parts of the country. This is contrary to section 417 and 418 of the penal code of northern Nigeria.

EFCC Operative Arrested For Collecting N45 Million Bribe

he Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested one of its operatives, Abdulrahman Mohammed Biu, who is a Deputy Detective Superintendent for allegedly collecting $150,000 (about N45 million) from some military officers currently under investigation for their involvement in the arms procurement scam.

He promised to give the unnamed seven military officers soft landing to escape probe in the $2.1billion arms scandal.

Woman Who Drugs Her Lover And Steals His $1.5m

The Police at Ikoyi division, Ikoyi, Lagos, western Nigeria, have arrested a 46-year-old woman, Pearl Victoria Alaegbu, for allegedly conniving with a guard to rob her lover, Prince Hillary Unachukwu of his $1.5m (equivalent to N295.5m).

The Suspect
Police alleged that the incident occurred on 13 December, 2015 at Ojora Road, Ikoyi, Lagos when the woman allegedly connived with a guard to lock the victim inside a room with a padlock, ransacked his bedroom and allegedly stole his $1.5 and escaped.

EFCC Closes In On Ex- Nigerian Defense Minister Obanikoro And His Two Sons Over N4.8B

SaharaReporters has exclusively learned that two sons of Nigeria’s former Minister of State for Defense, Musiliu Obanikoro, are currently on the radar of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over a massive amount of monies transferred to their accounts from funds budgeted for the procurement of weapons and other equipment for the country’s military.

Dutch Lawyers File Complaint Against Buhari At The Hague

The pro-Biafran activist group led by the imprisoned Nnamdi Kanu has filed a complaint against Muhammadu Buhari in The Hague, accusing the Nigerian president of war crimes.

Thousands of people in southeast Nigeria have demonstrated in recent months, demanding independence for Biafra. Kanu, the leader of one of the most prominent activist groups—the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)—was arrested by Nigerian security forces in October 2015 on charges of ethnic incitement and sedition. He remains in detention and was refused bail by a federal high court in the capital Abuja on Friday.

2 Men Arrested For Having Sex Inside Car In Lagos

Two men were arrested after they were allegedly caught having anal sex inside a Sports Utility Vehicle, SUV.

The duo of Innocent Egbuna, 33, and Jide Ajayi, 21 were on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 docked at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy and act of gross indecency.

Court Denies Pro Biafra Leader Bail

John Tsoho, justice of the federal high court, Abuja, on Friday, denied Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and director of Radio Biafra, bail.

The judge ruled that Kanu was a threat to national security, and as a result would not be granted bail. He held that if released Kanu might commit the same offence again, and that there was a probability that he might jump bail because he possessed dual citizenship. He therefore ruled that Kanu be remanded in prison custody, and ordered an accelerated hearing of the case.

SAD: Seven Men Abduct, Gang-rape Fashion Designer

A fashion designer, Funmi (pseudonym), has been abducted and gang-raped by seven men on Powerline Road, Oko Oba, in the Agege area of Lagos State.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the Elere Police Division, where the rape was reported, had arrested a 32-year-old man, Abiodun Ariyo, as one of the suspects.

Buhari Still Fighting Insurgency With The Equipment I Bought, Says Jonathan

In an interview with France 24, the Nigerian leader said insurgency caught the country unawares but his government laid a solid foundation for terrorism to be defeated.

Cultists Who Rape And Initiate Girls In Ebonyi Arrested

A group of suspected cultists have been apprehended by the police in Ebonyi State. The state Commissioner of Police, CP, Peace Abdallah, made this disclosure on Wednesday while parading the suspects.

According to the CP, the incident occurred at Igboeze Onicha in Onicha Local Government Area.

“Six of the cult boys, Ugochukwu Onueze, Michael Innocent, Ogbonnaya Okike, Ogbonnaya Ogbu, Nnamdi Ogbonnaya and Emmanuel James, abducted two girls, dragged them into the bush, initiated them into their cult group and forcibly had carnal knowledge of them.

“The suspected cultists are said to be members of a terror cult group popularly known as German Arror,” Abdallah noted, stating that they will be charged to court after investigations were concluded.

As the ongoing probe of $2.1billion arms deals continues, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday gave “ThisDay” publisher Prince Nduka Obaigbena a two-week ultimatum to refund N670million allegedly collected for unexecuted contracts.

Obaigbena told investigators that he never benefitted from slush funds from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA). He said the administration of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan paid the said sums to “ThisDay” and the Newspapers Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN) as compensation for the bombing of the newspaper house by Boko Haram and the seizure of copies of many newspapers by the military.

40 Killed As Cameroonian Troops Chase Boko Haram Fighters Into Borno Village

At least 40 villagers in Gwadale border community under Gwoza local government area of Borno state were feared killed on Monday as soldiers of the Cameroonian national allegedly opened fire on fleeing Boko Haram believed to have ran over to Nigerian, witnesses said.

SHOCKING: Oil Bunkers Depot Discovered In Lagos

An expanse of land hidden at Roberts Island, a village off Lagos waters near Atlas Cove, where oil bunkers perforate oil pipelines and steal oil products, was yesterday discovered and exposed by a team led by the Petroleum Minister, Ibe Kachiukwu.

Nigeria Loses 50% Cargoes To Cotonou Port Due To Forex Restriction

The Shippers` Association Lagos State on Tuesday said 50 per cent of cargoes meant for Nigerian ports were being diverted to Cotonou port as a result of the Central Bank `s forex restriction on some imported items.

Landlady Arrested For Connecting Water Well To NNPC Pipeline

A 59-year-old landlady, Mrs Floyinka Ayinda has been arrested and detained at Idimu division for her alleged role in vandalising NNPC pipeline in Isheri Olofin area of Lagos State, western Nigeria.
Ayinda allegedly connected a pipe inside her water well to NNPC pipeline and has been siphoning petrol illegally for the past three years.

Dariye Diverted N1.126bn, Gave Atiku’s Firm N100m

About nine years after preferring the charges of alleged diversion of the Plateau State’s N1.126bn ecological funds against a former governor of the state, Joshua Dariye, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission finally opened its case before a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Gudu, Abuja, on Monday.

The trial began with a Supreme Court’s judgment delivered on February 27, 2015, laying to rest an interlocutory application filed by Dariye and which had stalled the trial since it was filed in 2007.

President Buhari Due In Kenya To Bolster Ties

President Muhammadu Buhari will leave Abuja Wednesday on a three-day state visit to Kenya. According to Femi Adesina, his Special Adviser to the President Media and Publicity, on arrival in Kenya, President Buhari will join his host, President Uhuru Kenyatta and other dignitaries at a memorial service for Kenyan soldiers, who were killed by Al-Shabaab in Somalia on January 15.

After the memorial service in Eldoret, President Buhari will proceed to Nairobi for bilateral talks on Thursday with Kenyan Government officials, led by President Kenyatta.

In what appeared to be a dramatic turn of events at the Federal High Court Abuja, the typically large crowd of political supporters and associates of the embattled Publicity Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh, were conspicuously absent.

Probe And Jail Jonathan If Found Guilty

The Deputy National Leader of the Northern Elders Forum, Dr. Paul Unongo, has said that former President Goodluck Jonathan should be probed over the $2.1bn arms deal.

Unongo, who was power and steel minister in the Second Republic, said the former President should be jailed if found to have corruptly enriched himself in the $2.1bn arms deal and refuses to refund his share of the loot.

Justice Raliat Adebiyi of a Lagos High Court sitting in Igbosere yesterday granted a former Director-General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Patrick Akpobolokemi, and four others bail of N20 million each in a N754,740,680 alleged fraud case.

Akpobolokemi and six other employees of the agency were arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly stealing N754,740,680 belonging to NIMASA.

Nigeria, Iran Clash Over OPEC Emergency Meeting

With the global economy reeling from plunging oil prices occasioned by massive over production, Nigeria, a key member of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), which depends hugely on oil revenue for its foreign exchange, has requested an emergency meeting to discuss steps to possibly cut down oil production and prop up oil prices.

But Nigeria’s call has been opposed by Iran, another prominent OPEC member, which claimed that the time is not yet right for such an intervention.

EFCC Arraigns Metuh In Handcuffs For Destruction Of Evidence

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission will today arraign the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olisa Metuh, before the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja for charges bordering on destruction of evidence.

Metuh, who has been on remand in prison, pending when he would fulfil the bail conditions imposed on him by a Federal High Court in Abuja with respect to the charges of money laundering involving N400m, part of funds meant for procurement of arms which he allegedly collected from the office of the National Security Adviser in November 2014.

‎Metuh allegedly tore his written statement and attempted to chew it while he was being investigated for the money laundering case. Prison authorities have produced Metuh before Justice Ishaq Bello for the arraignment to take place
