Ivanka Trump Reveals Why She Did 360 & Took White House Job: It Was ‘Organic’

Just four months ago, Ivanka Trump insisted she wouldn’t be taking a position in the White House. Now, she’s finally opening up about why she changed her mind and became a special assistant to her father, Donald Trump. Watch here.

“I realized that having one foot in and one foot out wouldn’t work,” Ivanka Trump told Gayle King on CBS This Morning April 5. “The reality is, it all happened very organically for me. I had to determine that my husband and I both wanted to be in D.C., that it was viable to move our children, that they’d be happy in a new environment.

After I decided I was willing to try, I needed to divest numerous businesses and I wanted to understand where I could be an asset to the administration and how I could help my father, and ultimately, the country.”

It was confirmed on March 29 that Ivanka would be taking on the role of special assistant to her father, Donald Trump, 70. This came just weeks after her husband, Jared Kushner, was appointed a Senior Advisor to the president.

Back in November, after Trump was first elected, he appeared on 60 Minutes with his entire family.

During that sit down, Ivanka was adamant that she wouldn’t be taking a position in the administration, and instead, she was just going to play the role of daughter, while still fighting for issues she’s passionate about.

Of course, she’s still pushing to fight those issues, like economic empowerment for women, but will doing so in an official capacity. “I hope to make a positive impact,” she explained in the CBS This Morning interview. “I don’t know what it means to be complicit, but you know, I hope time will prove that I have done a good job and, much more importantly, that my father’s administration is the success that I know it will be.”

What do you think of Ivanka taking a job in the White House?
